When the lump grew larger and more painful she went back to the Dr. and this time he panicked and ordered a biopsy immediately. The person doing the biopsy was having trouble and kept re-inserting the biopsy needle and "digging around" My mom said that it was like a form of torture. After the test came back Positive for cancer she had surgery to remove the lump. The surgeon took surrounding tissue and said that he "Got it all, No need for any further treatment". Well,6 months later the lump came back so she went back to the Dr. he did some tests and mom was told that the cancer had returned and it already spread to the limp nodes and to all of her organs. He said there was nothing that could be done gave her 6 months to live and sent her home to die.My mom was 61 years old and the sweetest most loving human you could ever know! After her passing my dad got the post op. report. and sent me a copy. The surgeon stated in the report that the cancer had already spread to the limp nodes but he nor her Dr. ever told this to my parents. When confronted as to why they were not told the cancer had spread, the Dr. said, "We often keep this information from patients so they dont spend their last days stressed about dieing" Could all that in & out and digging around with the biopsy needle have spread cancer cells from the tumor to her blood stream etc.? |
| No. I doubt it. Lymph nodes collect dirty lymph and then sometimes cancer cells end up there. It is very common. Especially even if there were no sort of biopsy. I know women with breast cancer that have had to have some of their lymph glands taken out. It spread there. Lymph bathes tissues and then recirculates and is cleaned by the lymph glands. That's why sometimes your lymph glands swell when you have a virus or bacteria. But, the one performing the biopsy should be talked to because of the pain he put your mother through. Try alternative therapies. Maybe a hyperbaric chamber or hydrogen peroxide therapy. Your doctor should be reported as to why he kept this info from you. The patient and the family needs to know because they need to pland and maybe seek alternative routes. You should call him on all of this. |
