| It's mostly hype. Men are men and a man being good in bed goes way beyond his skin color. So many factors determine how and why we are attracted to a person, that it's impossible to say. Some women might feel this way while others might feel the opposite or feel neutral. Every human being has qualities they find attractive. Being turned on can make sex even better. | Temperature- For the first week of life they will need to be kept at around 95-90 degrees. After that take them down 5 degrees every week until you get to 75 degrees. A good way to determine if your chicks are to hot or cold will be to observe them. If they are as far away from the heat source as possible then they are to hot. (They may even pant in this situation) If they are very close to the heat source and are huddled together then they are to cold. Flooring- Straw is nice but when it gets wet it can be a pain. Paper is also nice but chicks can slip on it and develop leg problems. Sawdust works but also gets wet very easily and young chicks like to eat it if it is to powdery and therefore can become sick. Paper towels work well because they are easy to put in and remove, plus they give your chicks some grip to walk on. If you are using regular paper put some grass or hay on the bottom of the cage for traction. Pecking issues- Chicks like to peck at each other. It is normal as they are just settling their arguments but there are ways to reduce them. Make sure that there is enough space for all of the chicks to eat and drink comfortably. You can also put some straw or grass in their brooder to distract them. Red light bulbs also tend to prevent pecking. I do not however suggest de-beaking a cruel and painful practice to stop chickens from pecking one another. Feed- Make sure to purchase good quality chick starter. Besides food chicks will need vegetables to keep them strong if they are kept inside. You can buy little feeders or just put the food on the bottom of the cage. But, putting it in a feeder would help keep the chicks from going to the bathroom in it as much. Water- You can get little waters or you can fill a dish with water and put marbles in the bottom so that the chicks can’t drown. But, I prefer the waters that you can purchase because then I know that my chicks aren’t falling asleep in the water dish, or drowning. It also helps keep the water cleaner. During the first week you can put 1 Tablespoon per gallon of water in your chickens waterer to give them a boast. If you wish you could also purchase mineral and vitamin powder mixes. Letting them outside- Letting the chicks outside to play is great. But, one has to keep in mind the dangers. Chicks can get eaten by almost everything so make sure that they are in a safe area. All of my motherless chicks go into a pen until they are a certain age and I can trust them out. But, even then I go out several times to make sure that they are all okay. Young chicks aren’t that smart and if it is raining they will get drenched, sick, and die before they go to a dry place. So make sure that if you are going to do this that they are safe from the weather, predators, and so forth. Black Sex Link- Barred Rock hen mixed with Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire Red rooster.
