| Natsume Yuujinchou, it was a calm, breathe of air, mixed with many emotions weaved throughout the episodes, by stories saddening, comical or uplifting. It's true beauty in my book. It did also include a lot of scene in forests and various other scenery. The character design are plain, but very well done, and add to the soothing effect. Haibane Reimei is another one I'd call beautiful. Though the animation and story aren't stellar, it holds some inner tranquility and originality in its concept. Of course, everything still pales compared to Mushishi. It is anime beauty at its finest. I cannot say anything detracting about it. For me, it's the closest thing to anime perfection I've ever found. |

| Why are the protagonists in anime beautiful and the minor characters average or ugly? I've noticed it in Death Note, Code Geass, Ouran High School Host Club, Hell Girl, and (ESPECIALLY) Vampire Knight. All the main characters are beautiful. They all have the EXACT same faces and the only thing that sets them apart is their difference hair styles and eyes. On the other hand, the bad guys or minor characters are just... average. Or ugly. Why?? Does it bother anyone else? |
