| Bad haircut, need advice for next time? I went to get my haircut yesterday, and I had specifically told the lady to LAYER my hair... she asked me how short and I said I wanted it shoulder length. So I sat there and thought "omg I can't wait, ectect". The lady was done in like.. 10 minutes MAX. I have been on football for threeyears, 2x varsity letterwinner, playing for the freshman and JV team in freshman year, and for varsity for sophomore and junior year. I was a captain junior year in football and the League and Team MVP. I was selected All- State First Team. I was All - League Sophomore Year and Junior Year. I have been a 3x varsity letterwinner, 2x Catholic State Champion, 1x Public State Champion, And 2x Captain on varsity wrestling. I have also been on baseball 3 years playing for freshman team in freshman year and for the next two years I played varsity. I was a 2x League MVP and a 2x Team Captain. I also am being very heavily recruited by the football,wrestling, and baseball teams. I will be playing football and baseball. I was my travel teams captain and MVP 3 past years in a row. | Your high SATs & grades, and great EC's definitely put you in the running. Note that many qualified applicants get rejected, but you definitely have a shot! One piece of advice: make sure your EC's aren't all over the place and relate to your passions & career interest. | Your freshman year WILL effect your chances. If someone has all the same stats as you but did well in their freshman year, they can and will be chosen over you. Now, your extracurricular activities are downright astounding as well as your sports awards, but ask yourself I question- Did I enjoy doing my extracurriculars and sports? If no, they also know that as well and your chances will go down. If you truly loved being in your extracurriculars and sports (don't even bother lying to yourself- they have seen 1,000s of applications and they can tell) than good job! They WILL tell and that will increase your chances. But you didn't even mention volunteering or community service, which WILL hurt your chances if you did not do any at all. I take that back- don't even bother applying if you didn't do anything to help your community. Go for another very good school, but stay away from Ivy League, unless you expect disappointment. On top of that, at least one thousand people have done the same exact things you have done. here's the special bit? What shows how you are unique and special? Have you been on TV- that's an accomplishment. Have you talked to someone who went to Harvard/Yale and got recommended by them? Bonus. Have you ever met the president and talked to him? Great. But it doesn't appear that you did anything absolutely amazing, so you will have to depend on luck. Are you a absolutely amazing writer and you have an amazing experience that shows who you are today (which no one else thought of and it is totally surprising)? If not than your chance may be blown. You need something that is unique and special about you. THAT is what should be in your essay. Make sure you either try to make your reader laugh or cry, otherwise your chance is over. Brush up on social skills, have a few questions, and get a great personality for your future interview. If you are a quiet, mellow person, fix that NOW. Be bright and exciting- and a joy to talk to. Your interviewer will be delighted and will be happy to say you're ready. If anything I say or the Yahoo! Answers community says discourages you from applying, still apply. You DO have a chance and you can get in, be positive. However, always apply to back up schools so if you get rejected you still got somewhere to go with your life. Good luck! | Novel character names? I'm writing a novel, well an amateur one, I'm only a teen, and I'm having trouble with names! I really like writing novels in my free time, and I actually have two I'm working on and thought of a third idea, but I need names.
